Why use SPLIT KLICK installation washers?

Counter tops have standard size openings for faucets. These holes are much larger than the faucet stems. Faucet stems range from 8mm on single handle faucets to ½-inch and ¾-inch stems on standard 2 handle faucets. When replacing a faucet, it is very difficult crawling under the cabinets and you cannot align the faucet and tighten up (install) the faucet at the same time without an assistant. Without an assistant, many trips under the cabinet are required. With the SPLIT KLICK installation washers, one technician can install and align a faucet in minutes with only one trip under the cabinet.

The alternative is to fill the holes with plumbers putty or silicone to try to hold them in place while you are lying on your back tightening the nut. This requires multiple trips under to the counter to make sure the alignment is correct. The plumbers putty and the silicone will dry later and allow the faucet to eventually move.

How do the SPLIT KLICK self-aligning washers work?

There are two basic sizes of self-aligning SPLIT KLICK washers. Each has three spring feet that lock into the 1-3/8 inch counter top standard hole. One size washer has an 8mm hole for the mounting screws on single handle faucets. The other has a ½-inch hole for the faucet stem. The washer fits over the mounting screw or faucet stem and locks into the counter top hole. The faucet is perfectly aligned and cannot move while it is being installed.

How do the “TOP-HAT” washers work?

Stainless steel sinks are slick on the underside. You cannot tighten the plastic wing nut tight enough to keep the faucet from moving over time. The TOP-HAT washer has patented gripping teeth that bite onto the stainless steel and never allows the faucet to move.

Why do the “TOP-HAT” washers split apart?

The washer is designed so that a faucet that moves on a stainless steel sink can be repaired without removing the water lines from the faucet. To make the repair, loosen the plastic wing nut holding the faucet to the sink. Split apart the TOP-HAT washer and insert the washer between the plastic wing nut and the sink. Fasten the TOP-HAT washer back together and tighten the plastic wing nut; the faucet will never move on the sink again. The repair takes minutes and the water does not have to be turned off and the water lines do not have to be removed.

Are SPLIT KLICK installation washers expensive?

No! The use of SPLIT KLICK self-aligning washers saves about 20 minutes in installation time.
The use of SPLIT KLICK TOP-HAT washers saves about 45 minutes in repairing a faucet that is moving on a stainless steel sink. The labor savings are many times greater than the small cost of the installation washers.
